Research: Feature Article Analysis
We have been looking at Magazines in preparation for our coursework. Below is what is known as the Social Grade which determines which members of society are reading/watching media.
TASK: Answer the questions below in as much detail:
In the magazine, Emma Stone, is promoting Vogue. Vogue is a fashion and lifestyle magazine which includes topics such as fashion, beauty, lifestyle and living. The image of the celebrity, Emma Stone, immediately grabs the readers attention because of the well-known actor. From a readers point of view, all the colours contrast with each other which is the first thing which catches the viewers eye. All the colours match, including her clothing, makeup and even background. The use of blue and red resembles confidence and wisdom while red contrasts by representing anger or lust.
2. How has the magazine used their layout to make their articles enticing?
The article is written in small serif font, and the layout is in columns. The layout looks quite formal mainly because the magazine is aimed at the ruling class therefore needs to contain the right criteria to succeed in the right target audience. Looking at the article visually the layout this article used, creates the image of a traditional newspaper.
3. How has the magazine article used text to engage their readers?
The article uses inclusive pronoun, 'you' to relate to the reader and to create a connection to Emma Stone. The quotation ' half-design princess/ half- cat eyes.' Creates the perfect, ideal celebrity that everybody who reads the magazine will want to be like.
